The last day of regular Semester 1 classes for students in Grades 10 to 12 is Thursday, January 16. After this date, students in Grades 10 to 12 are only required to be at school for scheduled exams. *If students require support from their teachers during exam week, they are welcome to request a time to meet directly from their classroom teacher(s).
Grade 9 students will continue to follow their regular Semester 1 schedule until Tuesday, January 21. Teachers will embed study sessions for courses with Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) into their scheduled blocks. Students are required to be present for their scheduled PATs on the days and times set by Alberta Education. If students require support from their teachers after January 21, they are welcome to request a time to meet directly from their classroom teacher(s). CSHS will continue to provide supervised space for students to study and/or complete homework from January 22 to January 27(when students are not writing their exams).
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q - What happens if I cannot write my exam at the scheduled day/time?
A – Grade 9 PATs and Grade 12 Diploma Exams are scheduled by Alberta Education and they cannot be written at a different day/time. If you know that you cannot write your diploma exam at the scheduled time, speak with Mr. Rawlyk right away. You will be required to write at a future sitting in April 2025 or June 2025.
***If students in Grade 10 or 11 require an alternative writing day/time (for exceptional reasons), they are to make this request directly with their classroom teachers.
Q – What happens if there is extreme weather/driving conditions on the day of the exam?
A – All tests will go ahead as scheduled, unless the CSHS office communicates a cancellation/postponement directly to students and parents. This communication would happen through both email and social media. This event would only happen under very rare circumstances.
